Silver Lining

In the beginning, God created light,
But is everyone entitled to see it?
Little does man know about His plans,
And even with the hope of redemption,
Why the series of darkness?

Why invent emptiness,
If it's a disease eating people up?
Why challenge the unconquerable
If you're left rejected,
Why lick the wounds that won't heal?

Why prolong the agony,
When it's so much more than healing when it all stops?

Life as we know it, it's no joyride,
But why must each of the gods envy such torture?
How can we not answer everything?
How can we not answer anything completely?

It might be a fact that man,
Longing for that silver lining across those dark clouds,
Might be waiting for necklaces to fall from the sky.
Impossible, it may seem,
But faith makes us believe we can catch the strands of light,
And still end up empty-handed.
